EAR (pronounced "E-A-R") began as a local sound consultant company in Phoenix, Arizona in the late 1970s. Owners Ed Vogt and Mike King carried the success of their consulting business into the early 1980s, providing professional audio products for music recording, public address, broadcast, and local industrial applications throughout the Southwest United States. EAR's renowned staff worked with everyone from Paul McCartney to Robert Altman. Their storefront served as a place for Phoenix area musicians to buy the best the industry had to offer for recording and sound systems. In the late 1980s, professional video took off with the introduction of the Avid Media Composer and nonlinear editing systems.
